CURVY In 2014

CURVY
This year CURVY will unveil the most inspiring young creative women in the world via a collectible, coffee-table quality book. But this time there is a twist this time round and I for one am pretty excited! Don't panic it's not like a bad reality TV twist, it's the lemon in your gin and tonic kind of twist.

I've been proud to not only as an artist but as a CURVY team member to see this book develop and grow over the years. And now it's time for it to take a massive big leap into being even more inspiring than before.

To date CURVY has showcased close to 900 female artists and illustrators from over 40 countries and has received more than 10,000 submissions. We’re thrilled to announce that for the first time we will be adding photography and fashion into the mix via a brand new CURVY format.

Created by the CURVY team together with a group of special-guest curators, this beautifully designed book will be filled with hand-picked images and interviews that will inspire anyone that wants to up the ante in their own creative pursuits, as well as those who like looking at amazing work. And of course, CURVY will be the source for anyone who wants to be up to date with the world’s latest boundary-breaking female image makers.

So just who are the curators? Kelly Thompson will be curating design, art and illustration, Elke Kramer will be in charge of fashion and curating photography is Claire Martin.

To support the books, there will be launch events and exhibitions in a number of cities around the world throughout 2014 - yes, around the world.

The first will be a 3-day CURVY event as part of the Semi-Permanent program in Sydney, Australia. This event will feature CURVY exhibitions, demos and installations – plus speaker panels comprised of inspiring female creative talent. Head to the Semi-Permanent website for more information.

Now for something more that's a little different... for the first time ever we are also kicking off (no pun intended) a CURVY Kickstarter initiative. Kickstarter is a very cool platform offering a fantastic avenue for projects like CURVY to work with the public to realise their vision. We’d love for you to check out our Kickstarter project and take advantage of some of the great rewards we have setup for our supporters.
