Lucy Snowe is a photograher living on the West Coast of the United States. I recently came across her series of swimmers and pools. The images from her new series reminds me of early mornings at the local pool.

The images in this collection of hers has a vintage retro feel about them, coupled with great color, light and composition. Though bathers and what we wear in the pool now has become very modern in comparison to what is shown in these photographs these images for me capture the beauty of being at the pool in the early hours of the morning.

You can view and purchase Lucy's works via her Etsy store.

Photos From Under The Surface

Last weekend I headed on down to Portsea on the Mornington Peninsula, for a snorkel with two friends I had not seen in a while. It was a great session, we spent over two hours in the water and saw a huge crab, a big stingray, lots and lots of different type of fish, sea urchins in various colours, sea biscuit star fish, sand worms and so much more. It's nice getting out under the surface and checking out what's there, I always feel so inspired after a trip like this one.

Hints + Tips - Stationery To Help You Prepare For The Best Year Yet

Officeworks is helping students prepare for their best year yet in 2014 with super stylish stationery. I put this to the test with a trip to my local store armed with a gift voucher courtesy of Officeworks.

2014 is my final year of studying Commerce Marketing as a part-time student. Each year when I restock my supplies I don't just think "Oh I need a new ruler, that one will do". I think about how that ruler or other piece of stationery will fit into the rest of my life. Which is probably why when Officeworks spokesperson and fashion stationery expert, Leah Coleman says "Studying gets glamorous with stationery doubling as fashion accessories. Think pencil cases that double as a clutch, iPhone covers that are also a slim line wallet, and handbags that have phone charges built-in for the student on the go". I get rather excited.

So... on my trip to Officeworks what did I get and why?
  • Study Mate aluminum 45cm ruler in black - I've lost my long metal ruler I use when cutting stencils and a black metal one is a nice stylish replacement.
  • Apple memo pad - I've been after one for awhile to grace my desk because they are so cute.
  • X Brand plastic eraser - whether it be school, work or art related I can never have enough erasers.
  • X Brand spiral notebook with a plastic pocket - if you've ever seen me at an event, work or school, you'll notice I've lots of random bits of paper placed between pages. The plastic pocket will hopefully prevent me from losing important bits of information. The pages are also very creative friendly, they are not lined, but have little dots in a grid like pattern. Whether it's sketching out an ad idea or taking down important notes, this notebook will be perfect.
  • Posca black poster marker - a good permanent marker comes in handy and this one is a nice size to take on the go with you.
  • X Brand mechanical pencils in 2H, HB and 2B - these not only look stylish with their minimalistic design but are lovely to write with too. Plus coming in different weights they speak to my creative side. I can imagine using them both in the lecture room and in meetings.
Officeworks encourages you to surround yourself with stationery that inspires great work and sets you up for your what will hopefully be your best year yet at school, work and life.

Officeworks have kindly offered a $50 gift card for me to giveaway to one lucky reader - what a way to kick off 2014!

I was going through a bunch of photos and I realised I didn't share what I painted for the Footscray Street-Art Prize late last year in November. The Footscray Street-Art Prize was part of the Big West Festival and sponsored by Cheaper Buy Miles, the competition attracted dozens of entries on wall space in the centre of Footscray.

For it I painted one of my drip animals, the Weedy Sea Dragon, with the help pf a friend of mine to help me with the stencils.

BKR Water Bottles

What if I told you that there is drink bottle whose design was inspired by sky-high boots, parisian street chic, tokyo minimalism, the cool, the pretty, the calm, the bright, soft white sheets and everything transparent and clean? You'd probably think I was taking my water drinking a bit to seriously.

When you consider how much plastic waste is out there, why wouldn't you want a stylish looking drink bottle that's 100% reusable and recyclable, oh and comes in a wide variety of colours.

With the BKR drink bottle you drink through a glass bottle which is in a silicon cover. It makes for a safer, cleaner drinking experience, but also looks fantastic. Perfect for taking out on a run, to the beach, or to the gym. Now which colour?

You can find out more about the BKR drink bottle and purchase them from

Introducing 3...

With University starting again soon, people returning back to work and those new year resolutions everyone made starting to either be embarked upon or forgotten about, stationery will be needed. I've a soft spot for well designed stationery and here are three items I think no matter what your doing you too may love as much as I do.

Alliance Française French Film Festival
Australia’s most glamorous film event is returning to Palace Cinemas for its 25th season with a magnificent line-up of 46 features and documentaries that make a French ‘affaire’ essential! This is one of the handful of film festivals I get excited about each and every year.

Presented by the Alliance Française in association with the Embassy of France in Australia and the generous support of Gold Sponsor Citroën, the Alliance Française French Film Festival will screen across seven cities around Australia throughout March and April, launching in Sydney on 4 April.

To mark their ‘silver’ anniversary they are thrilled that celebrated French/Australian entertainer, Julia Zemiro will be joining in on the fun as the Festival’s inaugural Patron.

A bevy of French-themed special events, international guests and Première screenings will dominate Palace Cinemas for the two-month period and will include a tribute to François Truffaut, the master of French New Wave Cinema and a Closing Night that will honour the comic genius of Jacques Tati.

Taking center stage on opening night in each city is The Finishers, a poignant drama with characters inspired by a true story. Screening courtesy of Madman Entertainment, directed by Nils Tavernier and starring Jacques Gamblin and Alexandra Lamy, The Finishers follows the journey of an embittered, former Ironman champion, and his disabled son who join forces to compete in a triathlon. The films to follow will feature the bewitching talents of a ‘who’s who’ of French and European silver-screen luminaries.

A very happy 25th Anniversary to the Alliance Française French Film Festival and I can't wait to see the fine films in this years program.

Hints + Tips - Want To Know How I Use Feedly?

What is Feedly? In short Feedly is a news aggregator application, compiling news feeds from a variety of online sources which you can easily share with others and customise. Feedly has been around for quite some time, it was first released in 2008. I've been using it for awhile now and switched to it when Google Reader ceased to exist.

So how do I use Feedly? Well I use it to...
  • Keep up to date with all of my favourite blogs and websites in one spot.
  • Save posts to read latter - this is great for those who are time poor.
  • Track alerts when my name appears in online articles. I don't think I'm vain, I'm  just curious as to who is sharing what I'm up to or my artwork.
  • Find interesting things to pin on Pinterest and share via my other social media accounts.
  • Sort the blogs and websites I'm following into catergories, there are somethings I'm interetesed in reading about more often than others.
  • Discover new and exciting news sources in the recommendations based on the blogs and websites I'm following.
  • Stay up to date on the go via the mobile app on my iPhone.
