Rhinos Are Roaming Fed Square

Rhinos Are Roaming Fed Square
I've a soft spot for art that not only raises environmental and animal welfare issues, but does so in a whimsy like manner.

Gillie and Marc's installation at Fed Square, Run for your Life, is an interactive installation featuring three magnificent rhino sculptures that invite the public to be part of their run for freedom and life. The Rhinos weigh in at 600kg to 1 tonne and stand over 2 metres long and almost 1 metre high, oh and they are interactive too. Which the rhinos making real rhino sounds and there are two for the general public to ride on too.

In 2013 nearly 700 rhinos were killed in South Africa, making it the bloodiest year yet for rhino poaching. If that wasn't horrible enough it also marked the year that the Western Black Rhino was officially declared extinct. An exhibition like this aims to raise awareness about the issues affecting the lives of rhinos.

If you're in Melbourne why not head on over to Fed Square and check out this enchanting installation. Oh and whilst you're there why not take a pic of yourself with the rhinos and help spread the word that this magnificent creatures are endanger of being wiped off the planet.
