Obey The Giant

I'm still on the fence as to whether or not I'm a fan of Shepard Fairey. Which might explain why I was apprehensive about watching Obey The Giant, a short film by Julian Marshall’s focusing on the moment of Shepard Fairey's life where he committed his first act of street art.

How close the film is to the truth I don't know but it is a film about a Rhode Island School of Design student named Shepard Fairey during his time at Rhode Island School of Design from 1989-1992, made by Rhode Island School of Design students.

What I do like about the film is that there are many defining moments in an artist’s life, those that cannot be matched in importance are the ones that occur in the early stages of an artist’s career. This film captures that and shows that it's the small achievements at the start of your artistic career that can really matter.
