Spray Stone

What creates these structures that are reminiscent of an underwater place? A robot that mixes soil with a solidifier component and then sprays it on surfaces. Through the use of scripts it is able to also produce predetermined designs - pretty neat uh?

Stone Spray is a research project by architects Petr Novikov, Inder Shergill and Anna Kulik under the supervision of Marta Male-Alemany, Jordi Portell and Miquel Lloveras in the Institute for Advanced Architecture of Catalonia.

The goal of the research project was to propose a new eco-friendly, efficient and interesting system to print architecture in 3d in the field of additive manufacturing in architecture.

I'm already imagining the artistic possibilities that could achieved by using Stone Spray.
