Last Saturday I painted as apart of Body Canvas held at the St Kilda Sea Baths. The event featured artists from around Australia who come together to showcase their talent and support a charitable cause. This year's event was proud to support the National Breast Cancer Foundation.

Below are some of the photos I took on the day...

Body Canvas

Body Canvas was first created by three associates after the sudden passing of a mutual close friend Dr. Annie Guillet at the young age of 32. After this difficult experience the idea was born to organise a truly spectacular event that would celebrate life, raise money for cancer research and inspire higher public awareness about the importance of early detection and treatment initiatives.

This Saturday I'll be apart of Body Canvas, Australia's largest body paint festival. The event features artists from around Australia who come together to showcase their talent and support a charitable cause. This year's event is proud to support the National Breast Cancer Foundation.

I'll be painting alongside the likes of Josh Lord, Debs, Drewfunk, Phibs, Meggs, Makatron and many other talented people.

I was first introduced to Aqua Bumps by my friend and fellow artist Megan Dell, since she told me about it I haven't looked back. I enjoy flicking through the emails and if I don't have time saving them for a day when I need a pick me up or a little time out.

Woods & Fields

Every so often I come across a store I just love, after much window shopping of Woods & Fields on Sydney Road in Brunswick I finally went in just a few weeks ago. I ended up purchasing what is now my most favorite hoodie! This store is now one of my favorites at the moment. I look forward to stopping by there again soon.

"Our name is an ode to the natural spaces in the world. Woods and fields are the things of storybooks and imagination for most urban dwellers. Sadly the less that such folk think of them the more rapidly these spaces get engulfed and obliterated by nothingness and excess. Believe in fairies? Vampires? Spirit animals? Well we believe in woods and fields and the natural magics they contain. So we are doing what we can to help them stick around." - Woods & Fields

You can find them at 355 Sydney Road, Brunswick or online at www.woodsandfields.com.au

Hints + Tips - Social Media: Why We Should Embrace It

Recently I've been approached to offer advice on social networking sites. As I've just moved house, come off a very big exhibition, work full time and am juggling several other exhibitions I've just said yes to, I simply don't have the time to explain how to use social networking sites such as twitter and facebook.

This is why I link regulary to articles where other people have taken the time to compile easy to to read and understand articles on the matter. As I do personally believe that sites like flickr and youtube can play a very important part for business and creatives and wish to pass on this information.

This week over at Meylah I found a very useful article titled 'Social Media: Why We Should Embrace It' which is all about social media and is written by Ram Dutt. It is straight to the point and will get you thinking about what social networking tools will suit your needs.

On Meylah there are also many other wonderful articles of interest, and I will be honest and say that this was the first time I had come across Meylah and wish I had a little sooner.

Another Update: El Mar Mi Alma (The Sea My Soul)

Now some good news.... my boards finally made it to Byron Bay for 'El Mar Mi Alma (The Sea My Soul)' at Retrospect Galleries. For those who plan to see it I did only sent up four of the six pieces that were on display here in Melbourne, as I didn't have enough room to pack them all into the one box.

I have to say a huge thank you so everyone at Retrospect Galleries as I think I almost drove them crazy with all of my questions of where it was, and also to No Vacancy Gallery here in Melbourne as they were the picking up point.

You can also check out the exhibition online at www.retrospectgalleries.com/exhibitions/el-mar-mi-alma-the-sea-my-soul where you can view all the works in the exhibition including the my boards that finally made it.

Hints + Tips - The Art Of The Email

Over at Think Bakery there is a very helpful easy to read (and understand) post about the art of writing an email, to check it out visit www.thinkbakery.com/the-art-of-the-email

El Mar Mi Alma (The Sea My Soul)

This is the second exhibition I'm doing with Retrospect Galleries, and could it be anymore fitting! It's an exploration of the global phenomenon of surf art, from Byron Bay to Chile, the crest to underground. In a mad dash the surfboard pieces that were on display as part of 'Split Personalities' at No Vacancy in Melbourne have been rushed up to Byron for the opening to be held on Thursday.

What is even more lovely is that one of the pieces is named after a very good friend of mine who lives in Byron and I can't wait for her to see it face-to-face, as she couldn't make it down to Melbourne for the exhibition I did with Megan Dell.

If you can't make it along to the exhibition visit www.retrospectgalleries.com/exhibitions/el-mar-mi-alma-the-sea-my-soul where you can view all the works in the exhibition and if your heart so disers even purchase one or two to call your very own.

Introducing 3...

For this weeks introducing three I've three quick little tips which I've been using to save money over the past few weeks:

1. If you are "hard" on clothes, buy quality. Buying an $80 pair of shoes that will last saves money in the long run instead of having to buy 3 pairs of $35 shoes that don't hold up.

2. When needing an item check out the Op Shops first, just the other day I bought two handbags, a skirt and some kitchen scales for a grand total of $23. I couldn't get a decent new handbag for that price.

3. Where possible get your clothes and shoes repaired, if their broken.
