Throne is the latest addition to OCCUPY: Art in Strange Places. Strange on a day to day basis this is not but to have art in such a place maybe to some, I’m talking about the place you visit at least once a day; the toilet.
Melbourne artist, Clare McCracken has transformed two toilet cubicles (one male/one female) in The Atrium at Federation Square in the opulent style of pre-revolutionary France. Each one is complete wit sparkling silver trim, hand-painted wallpaper and ornate decorations; giving them the elegance of a bygone era.
I’m just loving this idea as it puts function before form and translates art into every day life, also I’ve a major crush on most things 16th century France.

The Atrium at Fed Square, Melbourne
Exhibition Dates: On until Tuesday 23 June 2009
